The 2nd of August 2025 the doors of the Little Sisters of the Poor at St Anne’s in London opened to welcome seven young people, two from the Philippines, one from Hungary, one from Brazil, one from Ghana, one from England and one from India. Although August is a time for holidays the little Sisters were happy to prepare the spiritual event “listening to the Holy Spirit”. The day was prayerful, and the youth participated well during the open forums and discussions.
A PowerPoint was prepared with several passages of scripture; the youth shared their thoughts during group work, discovering positive thoughts in their exchanges.

Father Daniel Manier celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit and during the homily encouraged each one present to listen to the Holy Spirit who invites us to become witnesses by our example of Christian Values in our daily lives – It is our mission to be apostles, knowing, loving and serving Jesus. We need to listen attentively to the Holy Spirit and appreciate the gift of Baptism, confirmation and the sacraments. The Holy Spirit is our guide and our light. Jesus Christ is Lord, each one of us desires to follow Jesus, listening to the word of God and experiencing the grace of the fruits of the Holy Spirt, wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the lord. Father mentioned that the group were united with the one million youth in Rome celebrating the jubilee year.
Lunch enabled the group to get to know each other and meet the little sisters of the community of St. Anne’s. A short visit of the home was organised.
In the afternoon the Holy Spirit was present in our hears during the sharing and discussions. Father Daniel was available to meet any young person who waited to see him.
At the end of the day each of the participants wrote one word on a red heart shaped balloon which was later sent into the sky as we sang together “give me joy in my heart, keep me praising”
After refreshments we decided that the next youth meeting would be the 25th of October 2025. The theme will be “Jeanne Jugan is calling us to love Jesus” This is the date of Jeanne Jugan’s Birthday.
At 4:30pm a time of adorations and evening prayer united Father Daniel, residents, Sisters, and the youth in the chapel to thank God for this time of grace
