Celebrating Grandparents & the Elderly Day on Sunday July 28th 2024 at Waterford

There are many reasons that grandchildren should spend time with their grandparents & the elderly, and if you are fortunate enough to have active grandparents? Well, treasure it.

 

Here at St Joseph’s Nursing Home Ferrybank Waterford we used this  opportunity to hold a celebration

 

His HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS’s message asking all of us to celebrate Grandparents & the Elderly Day on Sunday July 28th 2024 and the theme chosen by Pope Francis for this year’s celebration is …” Do not cast me off in my old age “(cf.psalm 71:9)

 

We had a delightful & very colourful afternoon of celebrations along with grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren that and our home was electrified. We held many games with the children, who in turn did not fail to entertain us, we had gymnasts, singers, dancers & athletes? and to see the delight on all of our resident’s faces was wonderful as it created a feeling of togetherness & to show them that they are loved & needed.

There’s a fruitful encounter between different generations and its truly magical between young & old.

God wants us to bring joy to the hearts of the elderly, and that was certainly in abundance yesterday as we celebrated this joyful day & event.
