The residents on the 1st floor unit participated today in our Lenten Journey. They were asked what they remember about Lent and what Lent meant to each of them. Several recounted that Lent was time of penance, praying and fasting, however one of them said that when she was younger she remembers eating a particular fruit that had a nut in it. While most of the children in her class did not like it she told her teacher that eating this particular fruit was not an act of penance for her because she liked it. Her teacher told her that Lent was not only a time of penance and suffering but that God could send us something nice as well.
Afterwards each resident coloured in a Lenten cross. There were many different coloured crosses each done with care and attention.
