50 Years a Volunteer

Celebration to mark the 50th Anniversary of Providence Annunciate Micallef as a Volunteer at London, St. Anne’s –

On 19th March 1964, the feast of St. Joseph, Providence Micallef knocked on the door of St. Anne’s to offer her services to the Home, and was welcomed by Sr. Joseph. Since that day ‘Provie’ has been a true ‘St. Joseph’ giving herself completely to the service of the Little Sisters at St. Anne’s and often beyond its boundaries, rendering service on a Provincial level.

It was fitting that, to mark the 50th anniversary of that unforgettable day, a Mass of thanksgiving should be offered in the presence of her Family, Friends, colleagues from St. John’s Ambulance Service, Little Sisters and Residents. In his homily Father Digby Samuels likened Provie to Tabitha who, as the reading of the day told us, “never tired of doing good, or giving in charity”.
