Preparation for the Feast of Jeanne Jugan – 30th August 2020

Lord, You have given us Jesus Christ your Son as our Lord and Redeemer. He always showed compassion for children and for the poor, for the sick and the afflicted.

AS DID JEANNE JUGAN

Open our eyes to the needs of our brothers and sisters; inspire in us words and actions to comfort those who labour and are burdened

AS DID JEANNE JUGAN

When our earthly pilgrimage is done admit us to an eternal dwelling-place

WITH SAINT JEANNE JUGAN

Bishop Tripp

Some thoughts below from Helen Lloyd and Pat Huddleston, AJJ, Newcastle;
‘Charitable works with humility.
Devotion to the elderly.
Pray to St Jeanne Jugan to make the world a better place to live in.
To follow our faith through the teachings of Jeanne Jugan’

Manchester residents – Jeanne Jugan.

-The Life of St. Jeanne Jugan runs contrary to today’s ideas of, “Look after number one and what’s in it for me “

I call her the Saint of silence because in spite of the terrible injustices done against her for most of her life

She managed to retain her integrity and above all her faith and remained humble all of her life.

She is truly an inspiration.

-We owe our well-being here to St. Jeanne Jugan.

Her patience has taught me to wait and not be wanting luxuries all of the time.

I think that Jeanne Jugan is truly a Saint because of the hard work that she had done all of her life.

She never thought about herself but gave everything she had to the poor.

She refused to marry because she felt that God needed her more.

-I knew nothing about Jeanne Jugan until I came to live in St. Joseph’s in Manchester.

I knew of the Little sisters of the Poor but did not know of their Foundress Jeanne Jugan.

I now pray to St. Jeanne Jugan every day. St. Jeanne Jugan spoke to the young postulants and explained about her work for the poor and the elderly.

-I think it was her charity that shows us how to follow in her footsteps.

She only thought of the poor and needy never herself.

So much good work has been done today because of St. Jeanne Jugan

Her novena is said here several times a day.

Her good work continues through the Little Sisters of the poor.

May it never be forgotten?

PETITIONS. Home in Manchester.

I pray for my daughter who is ill receiving treatment for cancer, grant her better health and peace.

St. Jeanne Jugan pray for us.

May God protect everyone here at St Joseph’s and their families who suffer, grant them good health.

We pray for all the young people seeking their vocation, guide them during their time of discernment.
