Little Sisters of the Poor, London St Annes
The Foundation of St. Anne’s began in 1876 in Queens Drive, Dalston. Later the Little Sisters built a Home in Manor Road. The Victorian building which provided a Home for so many elderly people since 1876 was becoming increasingly expensive to maintain and was not conducive to a refurbishment programme. The building was demolished in 2005 and the present Home was built on the existing site. It was officially opened on 19th March 2009 by His Eminence Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor.

What Our Residents Say
The standard of food fortification and St Anne’s is some of the best I have seen at a nursing home.
From Practitioner (Dietitian)
The care residents receive in St Anne’s Nursing is fantastic. They go above and beyond to ensure each resident receives personalised care and can take part in activities that are suitable. They also aim to keep residents as independent as possible for as long as possible which is so important. They have a staffing to resident ratio, which I think makes a lot of difference too. Out of all the homes I have worked in, I noticed that St Anne’s goes above and beyond in making residents look well in appearance.
From Practitioner (EPIC)
The dedication of care staff is exemplary. I feel that Una is in good hands. No matter how busy staff are, they are always helpful and supportive. I think if Una could complete this form, she would give you all thanks and praise. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

As soon as my mother walked into St Anne’s she felt safe and looked after. The home is a Happy Home with kindness and patience in abundance. I am so grateful and thank God and the sisters for looking after my mother.

My dad has been a resident for about 10 months, and my brother and I find St Anne’s to be outstanding in all areas. Upon entering the building, one is always greeted by a friendly receptionist, and the care taken with the premises is immediately evident. The individual personal spaces are attractive and comfortable, some social interaction. Healthcare needs are well taken care of, and information on these needs is shared regularly. Support with personal care is carried out with respect, and our dad always looks neat in his appearance. We both very much appreciate the high standards at St Anne’s and feel that our dad is safe and secure.

The care for my mother is outstanding and the staff show love and attention to detail that always move us. I cannot believe that we are so fortunate in having her in St Anne’s. The Mother Superior is very accessible and the nuns likewise. I have also been impressed by the interfaith mix of the staff (Muslim and Buddhist) who are deeply caring and enhance the Catholic ethos.

It is not easy to look after old people, as they can be very cantankerous and I appreciate what the staff here do for me. They are all most helpful and friendly. A big thank you. God Bless and be with you always.
