The Little Sisters, Residents, Staff and members of the Association at Jeanne Jugan Residence, Jersey, gathered on the Feast of St. Joseph, for the blessing of the statue of St. Jeanne Jugan, recently erected in the grounds of the Home.
It was not the first time that Jeanne had made the trip to the Island! She travelled there from Brittany in the early days of the Congregation, on her begging rounds, and was well received by everyone. She met many kind benefactors who supported her work, and to whom she was grateful, both for their hospitality and their generous gifts.
It is only right and fitting that her statue should be erected in Jersey, ‘Gem of the Sea’, at the Home that now bears her name.
