Feast of the Epiphany 7th January Waterford
This year the feast of the Epiphany which was celebrated on the 7th January was chosen to “celebrate” and thank our Volunteers. Mass which was for their intentions was scheduled for 11.00. Fr. Walter Walsh, Chaplain concelebrated with our resident priest Fr. Paul Murphy. To our disappointment snow had fallen the previous evening and then freezing temperatures caused the roads, especially the rural ones, to be rather dangerous. So from 9.00 a.m. we began to receive phone calls from some of our best volunteers to say they were either snowed in or they were afraid to risk going out because of the icy roads.
Despite our disappointment we were delighted that about 20 of our local volunteers managed to get to the Home. Some of them participated in the readings and offertory procession. Fr. Walter thanked them profusely at the end of Mass and they got a wonderful applause as we tried to show them how much we appreciated their help.
A delicious meal was served in the concert hall which had been beautifully decorated for the occasion.
