A Coffee Morning was held recently at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Leeds, organized by the daughter of one of the Residents and her friends, the proceeds of which was donated to the Home. It was a day of great activity as parishioners, brownies, guides and several other volunteers offered their services as well as baking food items for the sale. Our kitchen staff added their contribution by making scones, bakewell tarts and buns, while other staff members supported our cause by contributing to the sale. Residents also joined in by organizing a tombola and helping at the coffee stall. The family spirit was very visible and the joy, laughter and spontaneity filled the air bringing home the message and the legacy of St Jeanne Jugan. Little children from the “Rainbow”, who were there for Mass, stood proudly doing their bit to help. A parishioner also applied to Yorkshire Bank asking them to match the sale and received a positive response, up to an amount of £500. This meant that their contribution, added to the £800 raised, brought the total to £1,300!
