When organising a BBQ in our Newcastle Home, the weather of course is a big factor. It had been raining almost every day for the previous 2 weeks. However, Monday 7th August was still a bit cloudy and having the BBQ inside was almost decided when the sun began to appear and in fact it became suddenly quite warm. “Someone’s been praying” could be heard.

This was to be a special day for Veska, one of our staff members who, with her friend Robin had offered or organise a BBQ for the residents, Sisters, staff, associates and volunteers. It was certainly a big and expensive undertaking but it turned out to be a great, great day, and so enjoyable.

When thanking Veska afterwards, one of the Sisters asked her why she had wanted to do it and her spontaneous reply was: “I wanted to make the residents happy. My real reason is to thank God for our health and to ask Him to continue to look after everyone in the home – the residents, staff, Sisters and volunteers and everyone who needs help. Money is not the most important thing in life, good health is. We were more than happy to do it.”

What a beautiful message. WELL DONE VESKA AND ROBIN. THANK YOU AND CONGRATULTIONS ON SUCH A SUCCESSFUL UNDERTAKING!
